How my journey began
I started inexplicably gaining weight my senior year of college—in just over a year, I gained 95lbs. Doctors, a dietician, and a personal trainer all kept telling me to “eat healthy and exercise” when that’s exactly what I thought I was doing the whole time.
I was told there was nothing wrong with me, that I lied in my food journal, that I must be sleepwalking and eating junk, and that I wasn’t trying hard enough in the gym. It was exhausting and frustrating. I restricted calories, went vegan, walked around 5 miles a day and still but in a hard hour (or 2) at the gym.
Nothing worked. I kept gaining and experiencing a host of symptoms—fatigue, migraines, lethargy, heightened anxiety, insomnia, and panic attacks.
Fast forward to 4.5 years later, and I finally discovered what was wrong with me—I had a benign tumor on my pituitary gland that had caused all of my issues. I was equal parts relieved, validated, and enraged. I had been dismissed, accused of lying, and kept being told to “eat healthy and exercise”—all without ever being given any actual guidance on what to do. If I was given a diet plan, it wasn’t tailored to my unique needs.
This became the decision maker for me as I pursued nutritional therapy. As a health and wellness coach: I BELIEVE YOU. I believe you if you know something is off with your hormones, if you’re frustrated by a lack of positive health results, and if you know you need someone to LISTEN to you. As a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, I believe in HEALING. Through focusing on nutrient-dense whole foods, energizing daily movement, and stress management techniques, I am managing everything that I was told wasn’t there.
After 15 years as a graphic designer, I decided to leave the field and focus on serving others as they walk through their journeys toward better overall health. I completed the Institute for Integrative Nutrition’s Health Coaching certification in February 2022 and immediately started at the Nutritional Therapy Association the following week. I graduated and became a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner in November 2022.
I know how frustrating it is to try and not get the results you want. I know how overwhelming all of the conflicting nutrition and exercise information is that’s available online. I want to help you filter out the noise of what’s “best” for everyone so that we can get to the bottom of YOUR issues and figure out what works for your bio-individual needs. I’m grateful for the NTPs that I had the privilege of working with that set me on this path. I broke down in tears the first time one of them said “You deserve to feel better.”
YOU deserve to feel better. I wholeheartedly believe that, and I would be honored to help you get to that place.
